A new Scottish Women's Institutes group in Musselburgh.

To complement all the national SWI events, workshops and classes on offer, each region in Scotland has its own local SWI organising team, known as a Federation, to look after the groups in its area. They offer women across the region opportunities to meet neighbouring members for day trips, outings and events, take part in regional shows, and enter fun competitions.

East Lothian Federation is the home of the SWI, as the first Institute was formed in Longniddry back in 1917 by Catherine Blair – and still meets to this day! Nowadays, members in this Federation are proud to uphold traditions whilst branching out to offer all new kinds of fun and learning.

Founded in October 2019, Pilates Scotland began with a simple goal: to create high-quality Pilates classes that build strength, confidence and community. What started as in-person sessions across Edinburgh quickly became something much bigger.

When the world changed in 2020, so did we. In response to growing demand from our clients, we launched our online platform - and our community continued to thrive. What began as a way to stay connected has evolved into a comprehensive on-demand service with a library of over 1,000 mat-based classes, with new workouts added every week. Today, our members enjoy unlimited access to expert-led sessions anytime, anywhere.

Community has always been at the heart of what we do. Whether in a village hall, a corporate setting, a luxury spa or online from your living room, we strive to create spaces where people feel welcome, challenged and connected.

It also works to promote flexibility and increased range of motion for the joints. By helping reduce the effort placed on the body during everyday activities it can also help lower fatigue levels.

RUTS has been an inclusive, innovative service for young people in the east of Scotland since its founding in the early 1980s.

We are responsive to the needs of young people in our communities. We strive to help young people overcome barriers, enhance skills, gain qualifications and achieve their potential.

RUTS do this through using themes of motorbikes, bicycles and general fitness to offer accredited vocational training, as well as bespoke employability and sector-specific courses. RUTS offers tailored personal development, recognising each young person’s individual needs, skills, strengths, ambitions and personalities.

We use mobile equipment to deliver our services across schools and a range of partner agencies. This collaboration continues to build positive relationships within the community and ensures we can reach, motivate and support the young people who will benefit most from engagement with RUTS.

Our values and the way we behave are critical to the continued growth and success of RUTS. We want to make a positive I.M.P.A.C.T on our staff and young people to learn new skills, develop their potential and achieve their goals.

Music with Jackie” is an award winning Early Years Music Education class. Established in 2003, this unique programme has captured the hearts and minds of hundreds of families throughout Edinburgh and the Lothians.

It is guitar and song based with recorded music being kept to a minimum (some good quality Classical and Folk music). This makes for a very relaxed, non frenetic atmosphere where children are responsive to learning all the basic musical concepts in an unconscious, creative and fun way.
